What goes wrong with a contact form
A contact form asks the visitor to do all the work and gives nothing back. They fill in their name, email and a message, press send, and get a line saying someone will be in touch. By the time you reply, they have usually asked two other businesses the same thing.
The form also tells you very little. "I'm interested in your services" does not say what they need, when they need it, or whether they are a fit.
What an AI agent does instead
An AI agent on your website does three things a form cannot:
- It answers first. The visitor asks a question and gets an answer from your own pages and documents, with a link to the page it came from.
- It asks follow-up questions. Instead of one message box, it asks what the visitor needs, the way you would on a call.
- It finishes the job. It takes their contact details, and if you have connected a calendar it books the meeting in the same conversation.
Keep your form fields, lose the form
You do not have to give up structured data. With Agentic Forms in N3 Chat you build the form once, for example a quote request with service, address and preferred date. The agent then asks for each field in the conversation instead of showing the form.
Each submission arrives in your dashboard with every field filled in and labelled, and you move it from new to in progress to finished. You can also be told about each one by email or Slack, or send it to another system with a webhook.
How to make the switch
- Add your content. Enter your website address so the agent can read your pages, and upload any documents visitors ask about.
- Rebuild your form. Create an Agentic Form with the same fields your contact form has today.
- Install the agent. Use the WordPress plugin or paste one snippet into your site. See how to add an AI agent to your website.
- Change your contact page. Point the main button at the chat, and keep an email address on the page for people who prefer it.
When to keep a plain form
Keep the form if you need file uploads from the visitor, or if a regulator requires a specific written submission. For everything else, a conversation gets you a better-described lead, and the visitor gets an answer instead of a wait.
You can see how the agent would answer your own visitors before changing anything: enter your website address in the free demo. No account is needed.
