What a service business needs from a chatbot
An online shop wants a chatbot that finds products and tracks orders. A service business wants something else. Its visitors ask whether you do the job, whether you cover their area, roughly what it costs and when you are free. A good outcome is a booked call or a described enquiry.
The checklist
1. It answers from your own content
The chatbot should read your website and documents and answer only from them. Ask how it behaves when it does not know. The right behaviour is to say so and offer to take a message. An invented price or promise is worse than no chatbot.
2. It captures the lead inside the conversation
A chatbot that ends with "please fill in our contact form" has only moved the problem. It should take the name and contact details in the chat and tell you what the visitor asked for. See replacing your contact form with an AI chatbot.
3. It books the meeting
For most service businesses the next step is a call or a visit. A chatbot connected to your calendar can book it while the visitor is still on the page.
4. You can set it up yourself
If setup needs a developer or a flow you draw by hand, it will not stay up to date. Look for a tool that learns from your website address and installs with a plugin or one snippet.
5. The price does not grow with your team
Per-seat pricing suits a support team. A small business does better with a flat monthly price, where adding a colleague costs nothing extra.
6. It works if you have no website
Many service businesses run on a social profile and a phone number. Some tools, N3 Chat included, host a page for you with the agent on it.
Where N3 Chat fits
N3 Chat is built for the list above. It answers from your pages and documents, captures and rates leads, books meetings on Google Calendar, installs with a WordPress plugin or one snippet, and is priced per plan, not per seat. There is a free plan, and a hosted page for businesses with no website.
It is the wrong choice if you need a ticketing system with a team of agents typing live replies all day. For that, a helpdesk tool is a better fit. See AI chatbot or live chat.
Try it on your own site
